The World Needs Your Help
Covid-19 has changed our world for the foreseeable future. The natural world saw some great benefits and I would like to keep them rolling.
I want to educate humans on bringing the outside back in.
Helping the ecosystems of the world is an idea worth cultivating. You can participate in this wonderful opportunity to grow and learn. If you need ecological advice, website help, or a place to learn more about helping the environment this is your first stop.
An Adventure Awaits
Florida's Scrub Habitat
Florida is home to a very unique habitat: scrub. This habitat is made up of mostly dry, high-heat and fire tolerant plants. The scrub habitat is endemic to Florida, where it can only be found in the Central and South Central regions. These habitats are home to the Florida scrub-jay, which is both endemic and endangered. This habitat is critical to their survival and to many other species within its food web.
Florida's Wetland Systems
The wetland systems throughout Florida are biodiversity hotspots where you can find a plethora of species mingling. We have lost over 20.3 million acres of wetlands in the past 150 years. These precious systems help filter the water that runs through them before it reaches our costal water ways. These systems are home to thousands of species that are dependent on their continued survival.
Floridas Hammock Forests
There are many types of hammock forest throughout the state of Florida. There are upland, mesic, rockland, and xeric hammock forests all with their own distinct characteristics. Out of the four forest types listed, the rockland hammock forest in south Florida is endangered and is home to rare species that share that area. The rest of the hammock forests on the list are very common throughout the state and are home to many species common throughout Florida.
